KUNG FU WUSHU AUSTRALIA LIMITED WAS INCORPORATED IN JANUARY 2010. IT HAS NO CORPORATE OR FINANCIAL LINKS TO ANY OF THE PREVIOUS FOUR NATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE ORGANISATIONS (AUSTRALIAN KUNG FU FEDERATION LIMITED; FEDERATION OF AUSTRALIAN KUNG FU AND WUSHU ORGANISATIONS LIMITED; AUSTRALIAN KUNG FU (WUSHU) FEDERATION LIMITED; AUSTRALIA KUNG FU (WUSHU) FEDERATION INCORPORATED). Since 1983 Kung Fu/Wushu/Tai Chi has been represented nationally. This has been via five different organisations. This history of Chinese Martial Arts Organizational representation is recorded here:

1983 – 1986: Australian Kung Fu Federation Limited
The AKF was formed in 1983 following the amalgamation of various unincorporated State Kung Fu Associations.

1986 – 1993: Federation Of Australian Kung Fu and Wushu Organisations Limited
In 1986 the FAKO was recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the official provider of the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme for Kung Fu
In 1991 the FAKO was formally recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the official National Sporting Organisation representing Kung Fu/Wushu in Australia.

1993 – 2004: Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Limited
In 1994 the AKWF was admitted as the member representing Australia with the International Wushu Federation in Beijing and was instrumental in the formation and recognition of the Oceania Wushu Federation in 1998.

2004 – 2012: Australian Kung Fu (Wushu) Federation Inc.
The AKWF Inc. conducted accreditation intakes for over 2000 kung fu instructors since 1986 and has been crucial in Australia’s support for Wushu to be introduced into the Olympics.

2012 – Kung Fu Wushu Australia Limited
In 2012 a new peak body is recognized by the Australian Sports Commission KWA Limited ushers in a new era of State and National representation for Kung Fu/Wushu/Tai Chi organisations and practitioners around Australia.

OFFICE BEARERS/ELECTIONS

Kung Fu Wushu Australia Limited was incorporated in 2010 and is an ASIC registered Public Company Limited by Guarantee it is a non profit organisation, all of our Office bearers are unpaid volunteers that are currently elected every 24 months by a vote of all members. Our accounts are audited every 12 months and any member can view our accounts at our registered office. The organization is governed by a National Executive. Each State and territory is represented by a State Association that is a voting member within KWA.

Since 1983 the following persons have been elected and served in an Executive capacity within the various peak bodies that have represented Chinese Martial Arts in Australia.
