Kung Fu Wushu Victoria Inc. is recognised by the Victorian State Government as the official representative association for Chinese martial arts (kung fu, wushu, tai chi) in Victoria.

Welcome to KUNG FU WUSHU VICTORIA Inc.

Originally formed in 1981 as the Victorian Kung Fu Association, the Association amalgamated with other State Kung Fu Associations to form the Australian Kung Fu Federation (The recognised governing body for Kung Fu/Wu Shu in Australia) in 1984. The Victorian branch operated as an unincorporated association for over twenty years.

In 2010 the Victorian Branch incorporated as Kung Fu Wushu Victoria Inc.

Over the past 20 years Victoria has hosted many State and regional Championships as well as the Australian Championships in 1988.

Victorian Participation in Official National and International Championships

Victoria has had a long association with Championships participation. We have fielded both athletes and officials for every one of the IWUF International Wushu Championships since their inception, and a majority of the 25 athletes who competed at the First World Traditional Wushu Festival in 2004 were from Victoria.

The Victorian Branch was also honoured to host the First Official National Wushu Tai Chi Championships and Victorian State Titles in November 2005.

National Coaching Accreditation Courses in Victoria

Victoria has a strong history of turning out many fully accredited Kung Fu, Wushu and Tai Chi Instructors through our NCAS program. If you have any queries regarding the courses, renewals etc. please feel free to contact admin@kungfuwushuaustralia.com

CLASS EXEMPTION TAI CHI WUSHU SWORDS CONTROL OF WEAPONS ACT 2000 and REGULATONS 2004

The class or general exemption applies to KWA members in that all, KWA members are covered by the Class or General exemption to the prohibition of swords in Victoria.

(A sword is a thrusting, striking or cutting weapon with a long blade having 1 or 2 cutting edges and a hilt, The definition applies inter alia to a Tai Chi or Wushu straight sword or broadsword (sabre) only and it will be in that context it will be used here)

SWORDS ARE PROHIBITED WEAPONS IN VICTORIA and an instructor requires an individual permit or needs to be a member of an organisation that has been gazetted as having been granted an exemption. The KWA has been granted such an exemption and it is recommended that a copy of your membership certificate is carried with you if you are transporting, teaching or training with swords.
