Australia Receives 4th Place at World Combat Games Riyadh Saudi Arabia

The 2023 World Combat Games were held from 21st-30th October 2023, in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.

Elizabeth Lim, an athlete on the Australian National Wushu Team, qualified and was selected to represent Australia in the Wushu (Taolu) discipline. The Wushu contingent was led by Australian National Wushu Team (Taolu) Head Coach Dr Kee Lee Tan.

The Games featured a total of 16 combat sports, with Australian athletes qualifying and competing in other disciplines such as karate and taekwondo. More than 1500 athletes from over 120 countries and regions were in attendance. Elizabeth competed in the women’s nanquan and nandao combination events, achieving an impressive fourth-place finish in her category.

The Games were well organised, and the hosts from Riyadh displayed exceptional hospitality and friendliness.

The Australian Wushu contingent had a remarkable competition experience in Riyadh, and the trip was considered a success.
